Suunto D5 Wrist Dive Computer with USB Cable - Black

The Suunto D5 Wrist Dive Computer combines an easy-to-read color display, intuitive controls and versatile recreational dive functions in a watch-style computer that can transition from diving to everyday wear.

The D5 features a 320 x 300 high-contrast color MIP display with an adjustable LED backlight, providing clear access to critical dive information underwater. Its customizable dive screens allow divers to select the information they want readily visible during a dive.

Interchangeable Strap System

The Suunto D5 uses an interchangeable quick-release strap system, making it easy to change compatible straps without special tools.

The D5 uses 24 mm straps, giving divers additional options for finding a strap configuration that works comfortably for their wrist and diving equipment. Suunto's D5-compatible 24 mm Dive 1 silicone strap in size M accommodates wrist circumferences from 130–220 mm / approximately 5.1–8.7 inches.

For FGSS, that combination of an easily readable display and interchangeable strap system is what earns the D5 a place in our collection of computers selected with larger divers in mind.

Recreational Dive Capability

The D5 provides Air, Nitrox, Freedive and Gauge modes, along with an Off mode for surface use. It uses the Suunto Fused RGBM 2 decompression model and supports up to three gases containing 21–99% oxygen.

A built-in digital compass provides underwater navigation, while customizable dive modes and displays allow the computer to be configured around the diver's preferences.

Optional Wireless Air Integration

The D5 supports wireless tank-pressure monitoring when paired with compatible Suunto Tank PODs, sold separately.

It can work with up to three different tanks/Tank PODs, allowing pressure information for the active gas to be displayed directly on the computer.

Connectivity and Dive Logging

Bluetooth connectivity allows the D5 to communicate with the Suunto app, where divers can transfer and review their dive logs and customize settings.

The supplied USB cable can also be used with a PC or Mac for software updates through SuuntoLink.

Why FGSS Likes It for Larger Divers

The D5 gives divers two things we specifically look for: good underwater readability and flexibility in wrist fit.

Its 53 mm body provides room for a clear color display, while the interchangeable 24 mm quick-release strap system provides more flexibility than a proprietary fixed-band design. Divers who need a different fit can change compatible straps rather than being permanently limited to the original band.

We would not characterize the D5 as having an unusually large factory strap. Instead, its combination of clear display, substantial 53 mm case and interchangeable strap system is why we've selected it as an option worth considering for larger divers.
