Akona 3mm AX ArmorTex Gloves

Regular price From $64.95

Quick answer: The Akona 3mm AX ArmorTex is an all-around dive glove: four-way-stretch neoprene for warmth and dexterity, with ArmorTex fabric on the palm and fingertips to stand up to sharp rocks, wreck metal and lobster dens. Sizes run from XS to 2XL.

Why it's worth a look

Thick gloves keep you warm but turn your fingers into sausages, and thin ones tear the first time you grab a rusty line. At 3mm, this glove lands in the middle. It's warm enough for cooler water and deeper thermoclines, yet thin enough to press camera buttons, manage a reel or clear your mask without a fight. The pre-bent fingers mean your hand isn't working against the neoprene all dive, which reduces grip fatigue.

Bigger hands often get stuck with gloves that are too short in the fingers or too tight across the palm. The stretch neoprene gives more than a stiff glove does, and the size run goes up to 2XL. Measure before you order, though; don't assume your usual size.

Before you buy

Measure around your palm at the knuckles (not including your thumb) and from your wrist crease to the tip of your middle finger, then compare to Akona's chart. Gloves should be snug with no air pockets at the fingertips, but you should still be able to make a full fist. Check local rules too: some marine parks don't allow gloves.
